Cookie Policy
Alicantehirecar Alicante · Alicante, Spain · Last updated June 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Alicantehirecar Alicante uses cookies and similar technologies on this website. We run a car-hire comparison and booking-search service for Alicante and the wider Costa Blanca: we let you compare rental cars from local and international suppliers and pass you through to book. We are an independent affiliate and comparison service — we are not the rental company, and the rental contract itself is always between you and the supplier you choose. This page tells you, plainly and honestly, what we store on your device, why, how long it stays, and how you can switch it off.
We have written this policy to be GDPR-aware and easy to read. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers what we do with personal data more generally. If anything here is unclear, the contact details are at the bottom of the page.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your computer, phone or tablet. When you come back, the site can read that file again. Cookies cannot run programs or carry viruses, and on their own they do not know your name — but they can hold an identifier that lets a website remember your device between page views and visits. We also use a few related technologies that work in a similar way, such as local storage in your browser (which can keep your search preferences without a traditional cookie) and small pixels or tags used for measurement. Throughout this policy, when we say "cookies" we mean all of these.
Some cookies are set by us (first-party cookies) and some are set by other companies whose tools appear on our pages, such as our analytics provider or the booking widget we embed (third-party cookies). The next sections break down which is which.
The categories of cookies we use
We group cookies into four honest categories. Strictly necessary cookies are the only ones that load automatically, because the site cannot work without them. The other three — preferences, analytics and marketing — are optional, and in the European Economic Area and the UK we only set them after you have agreed through the cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time (see "Managing and disabling cookies" below).
Cookie categories at a glance
The table below shows the kinds of cookies we use, typical examples of what each one is for, and roughly how long it lasts. Exact names and lifespans vary as our suppliers update their tools, so treat the durations as typical rather than guaranteed.
| Category | Example purpose | Set by | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keep the site secure, remember your cookie choices, let the search and booking widget function | First party | Session to ~12 months |
| Preferences | Remember your language, currency and recent Alicante pick-up and drop-off choices | First party | Up to ~12 months |
| Analytics | Count visits and understand which pages and searches are useful, so we can improve the site | First & third party | Minutes to ~24 months |
| Marketing | Attribute a completed booking to the right affiliate partner and measure advertising | Third party | Days to ~24 months |
Durations are typical values and can change when our analytics, advertising or booking partners update their tools. The cookie banner always reflects the current list for your visit.
A closer look at each category
Strictly necessary cookies keep the website working and safe. They remember the cookie choices you made so we do not ask you on every page, help guard against fraudulent or automated abuse, and allow the car-search and the supplier booking widget to load and remember the basics of your session. Because the site genuinely cannot function without them, they do not require consent and cannot be switched off through our banner — though you can still block them in your browser, accepting that parts of the site may then break.
Preference cookies make the site more convenient. They remember the language you read in, the currency you compare prices in, and details like your most recent Alicante Airport pick-up so you do not have to re-enter them. They are optional: turn them off and the site still works, you will just start from defaults each time.
Analytics cookies tell us, in aggregate, how the site is used — which Costa Blanca pages are read, where people drop off, and whether a change we made helped. We use this to fix confusing pages and improve search. Wherever our analytics tool allows it, we ask for IP addresses to be truncated and we do not try to identify you personally from this data.
Marketing cookies are mainly about how we get paid. When you click through to a supplier and complete a booking, an affiliate or attribution cookie lets that partner credit the referral to us — that commission is how a free comparison site like this one stays free. Some marketing cookies also measure the performance of any advertising we run. They never change the price you pay the supplier.
Third-party cookies
Because we compare and connect you to other companies, some cookies on our pages are set by third parties rather than by us. The most important is the embedded booking and car-search widget supplied by our booking technology partner, which needs to set its own cookies to show live availability and carry your search through to the supplier. Our analytics provider and, where relevant, advertising partners may also set cookies. We do not control how these third parties operate their own cookies, and their use is governed by their own privacy and cookie notices. We choose partners that we believe handle data responsibly, but we encourage you to read their policies too.
Once you are handed over to a rental supplier's own website to finish your booking, you are on that supplier's site under their cookie and privacy policies — not ours. The rental agreement and any cookies they set at that point are between you and them.
How long cookies last
Cookies are either session cookies, which are deleted as soon as you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which stay until they reach their expiry date or you delete them. Strictly necessary and preference cookies tend to be short to medium lived; analytics and marketing cookies can last up to around 24 months. You never have to wait for a cookie to expire — you can clear them all yourself at any time, as described next.
Managing and disabling cookies
You are always in control. On your first visit from the EEA or the UK, our cookie banner lets you accept or reject the optional categories, and you can reopen it from the link in the footer to change your choices later. Beyond our banner, every modern browser lets you see, block and delete cookies — usually under Settings, then Privacy. You can clear existing cookies, block third-party cookies, or set the browser to ask you each time. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window that discards cookies when you close it.
Please bear in mind that blocking strictly necessary cookies, or disabling cookies entirely, may stop the search, the booking widget or your saved preferences from working properly. Disabling only the optional categories will not break the core site.
Quick ways to take control
Use our cookie banner
Accept or reject preferences, analytics and marketing cookies, and reopen the banner from the footer to change your mind whenever you like.
Clear them in your browser
Open your browser's Privacy or Cookies settings to view, block or delete cookies for this site, or set it to ask before storing any.
Browse privately
A private or incognito window keeps cookies only for that session and discards them as soon as you close it.
Frequently asked questions about our cookies
No. The strictly necessary cookies that make the search and booking widget work load anyway, but you can reject the optional preferences, analytics and marketing cookies and still compare and book cars on the Costa Blanca. Rejecting them simply means we remember less and measure less.
No. Our cookies do not raise or lower the price the supplier quotes you. Marketing cookies only let an affiliate partner credit a completed booking to us so we earn a referral commission — the rate you see and pay is set by the supplier, not by us or by any cookie.
We are an independent comparison and booking-search service for Alicante, not the rental company. We help you find and compare cars from local and international suppliers; the rental contract is always between you and the supplier you book. Cookies set on the supplier's own site after handover are covered by that supplier's policies.
Reopen the cookie banner from the link in the footer and change your choices, or clear this site's cookies in your browser's privacy settings. Either way takes effect immediately, and you can switch the optional categories on or off as often as you like.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our tools, partners or the law change. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of the page, and significant changes to the optional categories will be reflected in the cookie banner so you can review your choices.
